About
The persimmon plant and fruit has long been a symbol of kindness, longevity, and good fortune, making it a cherished fruit in many cultures. When in season, persimmons become one of our favorite fruits to include in our care packages, offering not just nourishment but also a taste of home. Their naturally sweet flavor and vibrant hue evoke memories of warmth, togetherness, and cherished family gatherings.
For our Elders, receiving a persimmon is more than just enjoying a delicious fruit—it is a nostalgic reminder of traditions, shared meals, and moments spent with loved ones. To celebrate this deep cultural significance, we collaborated with Brooklyn-based designer Andrew Teoh to create a beautifully crafted persimmon tote. Thoughtfully designed with meaning and intention, this tote serves as a symbol of luck, abundance, and the joy of giving. Carry it with you as a reminder to embrace kindness, longevity, and all the good fortune the season has to offer.
100% of proceeds from the Persimmon Tote go toward Heart of Dinner’s work in supporting Asian elders with culturally thoughtful care packages of fresh food packed in hand-illustrated bags, lovingly paired with handwritten notes.
